How Does the
iTero Scanner Work?

A team member at our Raleigh, Durham or Cary orthodontics office uses a small, lightweight, handheld wand to scan your teeth and gums. The wand captures high-definition images in motion and they appear almost instantly on our computer screen, allowing us to create a digital, 3D model of your dental anatomy. Dr. VanderWall can use the digital model to plan your treatment or to design custom clear aligners, retainers or other appliances.

Comfortable

You don’t have to bite into goopy, messy impression materials. Instead, we’ll simply scan your teeth with our wand. You can breathe and swallow normally while we do it.

Safe

The digital scanner relies on a laser to create the images and doesn’t emit any radiation. The process is safe and painless.
